While making slip cast cups inspired by the You & I are Earth plate, I wanted to change the date stamp from 1661 to 2021. I teamed up with my Dad to work out how the number ‘0’ and '2' and might have been written. From there, he came up with a font design based on the shapes of the original text.

Developing on from his ideas, and thanks to the talented graphic designer Martin McGrath, I discovered that the plate style was somewhat influenced by Chancery Hand. Drawing ideas from other similar fonts like Medici Script and Monotype Corsiva, and incorporating my Dad’s designs, I created a final downloadable font for crafting mottos that capture the essence of the plate.
