Patinated Portraits

When I first started to work into metal patination, I was struck by the uncanny similarity between this process and analogue photographic printing and developing processes. This realisation led me to an intriguing insight: the oxidation of silver in photography is, in essence, a form of patination.

Inspired by this connection, I started to experiment to create patination images. The result was a novel method I developed, inspired by screen printing techniques, using patination chemicals on brass.
